From my knowledge, this field is inside XPlane Preference file to remain XPlane what is the runway to use on next XPlane launch. I explain: XPlane remain the runway itself by it position (only a simple ID like 1 is runway 1, 2 is runway 2, and so on). This backwards filed is used to say the runway must be used in the opposite position. Example: If runway 1 is 09L and backwards is 0, the aircraft will be on 09L. If runway 1 is 09L and backwards is 1, the aircraft will be on 27R.

This dataref is miscategorized: it is not really a "time" dataref.
